Multilinguality at Your Fingertips: BabelNet, Babelfy and Beyond!

robertoRoberto Navigli is an associate professor in the Department of Computer Science at the Sapienza University of Rome and a member of the Linguistic Computing Laboratory. In 2007 he received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from « La Sapienza » (winner of the Marco Cadoli 2007 AI*IA national prize for the Best Ph.D. Thesis in Artificial Intelligence). In 2013 he received the Marco Somalvico AI*IA prize, awarded every two years to the best young Italian researcher in Artificial Intelligence, who has provided a significant, highly-innovative personal contribution to the field of AI.
His research in Natural Language Processing includes multilingual word sense disambiguation and induction, multilingual entity linking, large-scale knowledge acquisition and open information extraction.
He is the first Italian recipient of an ERC Starting Grant in computer science, an output of which are BabelNet and Babelfy, a co-PI of a Google Focused Research Award on Natural Language Understanding and a partner of the LIDER EU project.

Marie-Claude L’Homme détient un doctorat en linguistique de l’Université Laval. Elle est professeure titulaire au Département de linguistique et de traduction de l’Université de Montréal et directrice de l’Observatoire de linguistique Sens-Texte (OLST). Sa recherche porte sur les liens entre la sémantique lexicale, la linguistique de corpus et la terminologie. Elle dirige l’élaboration de trois ressources terminologiques, à savoir le DiCoInfo (Dictionnaire fondamental de l’informatique et de l’Internet), le DiCoEnviro (Dictionnaire fondamental de l’environnement) et le Framed DiCoEnviro. Enfin, elle est co-éditrice (avec Kyo Kageura de l’Université de Tokyo) de la revue Terminology.
